Thanks this is what I was thinking as well.

If the wood you are going to use is destined for the campfire if you don’t use it, then their is an environmental cost to making anything. By reusing wood it costs your time to make an item, but saves trees.

I am going to use skid wood as it is free and it is going to be painted and I can turn them on my wood lathe.

I realy want to see the end spindles. It’s a great use of reclaimed wood.

I stop at yard sales looking for anything that is real wood . 90% of the time it’s pressed wood , but I get lucky once in a while

Unless you can buy wholesale, I doubt you’re going to beat free labor. Even wholesale, it’s doubtful.

As long as the wood has the right moisture content (e.g., equal to what you’d have used had you bought them) and the end product looks good, it’s damn the torpedo’s and. . . .
