Good News! I made virtually perfect dovetails on a drawer box today!

No, they weren’t hand cut. I have a really rinky-dink dovetail jig that is impossible to set up for consistently accurate dovetails. I had already made 2 of the 7 drawers for my current project and neither of them was even close to perfect. I was so proud of how perfectly these drawer sides aligned and how tightly all four corners fit. Then I went to route the groove for the bottom and . . . Bad News! . . . I realized I had reversed the pins and tails. What a bummer! Has anyone else...

L-square Stop - Depth Gauge - Table Saw Setup Tool

This tool serves several functions. It can be used as: - an edge stop for L-squares; - a wide gap depth gauge; and, - as a set up tool for table saws. This tool allows the user to, easily, lay out lines at ninety degrees off a straight edge using a standard L-square. Using it is far quicker and more accurate than the usual practice of trying to hold the square to the edge of the material. In the depth gauge mode, this tool also allows the user to establish depths...

Here's a Key to making precise Box Joint Cuts.

I believe that all jigs share the same principle in that they work or use a key and spacing system and in order to have a smooth joint the spacing has to be precise any minute fluctuation in the spacing can leave for a bad joint, 1. A gap between each pin (box joint) and slot is caused by a key (spacing) that’s too close to the bit meaning when first setting up for the cut depending on the size of your joints when spacing between the bit and the guide pin or guide bar the spacing was to...

Pocket Screw joinery

I heard about the pocket screw joinery several years ago and had doubts about it, than a friend convinced me to try his “Craig pocket hole jig” on my next job, I did and now I’m hooked. It makes a super tight joint with or with out glue, cuts assembly time by more than half. Great for cabinets, face frames, book cases, aprons on tables I could go on forever. It’s very easy to use and set up is a breeze. The one I bought was just over $120 and came with a few extra accessories but it was...
