This is part 5 in a 5 part series: How it's made

  1. Axle cabs
...
  1. Gear lever
  2. Headlights (made without a lathe)

Below the making of a headlight without using a wood lathe. The model, size and types of wood used are fully customizable. Thanks for watching.

There are many ways to make something, so I appreciate alternative methods in the comments.

Good info for more than headlights!
Often I need to round over a small dowel end and chuck it up in the DP then use a sanding block. Your jig to center drill and install a stub would allow me to use a Dremel for greater control on shaping. I could also just use the Dremel bit with the cone shaped screw (for the felt buffers) and screw into the dowel's hole.
When working 100 of these tiny buggers, anything to jig up the process is welcome.
Great write up, Jan.  It's always good to get alternatives to use during our builds.  Sometimes, even if a lathe is available, the method you show here produces a better outcome with less fuss.  Thanks for the taking the time to show this method.
I like the idea. Thanks.
Another excellent “How to” to keep, thank you Jan 👍
