You could annoy the neighborhood kids by blasting that outside while washing the car. Have it playing some old Howdy Doody shows.

I think these old cabinets were really the "draw" back then to own a radio. It was a big deal and needed to fit into the decor. It is nice to preserve the electronics, but hard to beat the improved sound and connectivity of going modern internally.
