Mine was built as a two story chicken apartment. According to the book, they need about 2-3 sq ft of coop space, and about 6 sq ft of run space. So a 6’x6’ run area below the apartment  allows you up to 6 birds, with about half that space for the second floor coop. If you don’t get bad weather (which, by chicken standards, neither of us do Pottz), then you don’t need a closed-in coop. As long as it keeps them out of the wind, they’re good. I built ours as a ‘open-concept’ type coop so it was an easy build. Simple deal Pottz, you can find 6’x6’.
