Yes, I was overly optimistic that this would hold up.  Then I watched them drink and then turn to look at me as water flowed like a faucet onto the stand.  Add our hard water and the stands don't have a chance of long-term survival. I have the cyprus one ready to go when this fails (realistic expectations this time) and also have a top made from poplar that I painted that I'll put on these legs (paint does better as the crazy yellow one in our garage still is looking good).  Did use pocket screws for these as high-level craftsmanship isn't necessary! They seem to like the stands so will keep updating as needed.
