Yes, it was an impulse buy, but reasonably packaged with the drill combo I bought at the time.  It was spurred on by the fact/memory that in the past I used to use a lot of decorative brass crews whose level with the surface was critical... unfortunately age made me forget I don't do those projects any more.
This is definitely a specialised tool and I've occasionally been challenged if I can justify keeping it rather than selling it to "friends" at a discount... those interested wanted it cheap rather than paying full price... which a few eventually did (full price).

BTW... if you don't buy one, don't you dare say you saved $150 bucks... as you're gonna waste that money on something else.  
I'd rather waste my money on myself than leave it behind for my kids to buy other crap.... hell this way I'll leave them something to ponder and try to determine what it is, how to use it and how much they could sell it for.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD
