To join the Cross to the base I drilled a hole in the centre of the base, more than half the depth of the Base. But being careful not to go right through the Base. Then I turned a Tenon on the end of the Cross and kept checking to make sure
the Tenon would have a snug fit.
When I thought it was a good snug fit, I put a bit of Tite Bond 3 into the Mortice and some on the Tenon, then tapped the cross into the mortice...I put a steel square against the cross all sides to make sure the upright of the cross was Plumb.
Then when the glue set, it will never come apart,
