Is the tenon glued in? From the photo, doesn't appear to be... If there is a trace of a glue line around it's base then it most likely Dominoed, otherwise routed (perhaps a Leigh FMT by a beginner... as they should not separate either.
If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD
