I thought about backfilling the engraving Ducky. I know you’re a fan of that. I wasn’t sure how it would hold up to being struck by a gavel though. Overall, I didn’t use any sort of a film or layer forming finish because I was concerned about how it would react to being struck. I figure oil was the safe way to go. I could see, in the future, backfilling the memorial language on the side of the gavel itself, however. I’m also of the mind to leave it somewhat subdued. No significant reason to draw attention to the engraving, rather let the wood grain do the yelling and the engraving just a whisper. I dunno. But it was in my thought process when I was doing it…
