..... Covered with tape and placed back in the laser to etch out the outlines. The tape keeps the TimberMate from getting into the pores and being difficult to sand out..... 
This had me confused,
  1. How do you re-align to get accurate "2nd" pass... I always shadow... the laser is accurate, but 2nd. placement isn't.
  2. Do you try to laser over Timbermate?  I found it impenetrable by my laser... easier to engrave concrete on the reverse side. 

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD
