Thanks, folks! It’s getting there slowly. Still think I want to do a traditional shellac / varnish finish, but I might use the Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil, since it cures so much more quickly. I figure I’d want at least three coats of oil, which with tung oil means the better part of a week. With the Tru-Oil, I can do that in an afternoon. We’ll see what I decide tomorrow after helping my sweetie spray our trees with neem oil tomorrow. F’in piñon needle scale is attacking two of our piñons, and something else is attacking one of our spruces.
