That's Australians for you and could only happen on the infamous Gold Coast anywhere else it would get a cover thrown over it!
Strangely enough rabbits are banned in Queensland as well.


In Queensland, keeping, selling, or releasing a pet rabbit is illegal under the Biosecurity Act 2014. Violators face on-the-spot fines of up to $2,757, while court-imposed maximum penalties can reach over $83,000. Exemptions are strictly limited to permitted uses such as scientific research or magicians in theatrical acts.
