This is part 1 in a 1 part series: Shop projects

  1. Battery chargers, holders, Kreg Jig, shop power

Ever since I got some help finishing up my DC mounting I posted a project of earlier, Ive been motivated to get back out to the shop in the evenings and some time on the weekends.  It's been a long winter in Michigan with some oddly unpredictable weather.  We have 3 young boys at home keeping us busy and it's tough finding the energy to go do anything after the usual evening  household civil war that is "bed time." But lately Ive had a few small successes that keep me coming back.  It's been cathartic in a way to just go solve one small problem that makes things even a little bit easier for future projects.  The shop needs lots of improvements, some quite big, but these are some of the creature comforts that have kept me busy lately:

Drill battery charger and holder.  My drill station was getting out of hand.  I had too many bits, things stored in different places all around the shop.  So I took my charger cubbies and changed them into easy-access bit storage, and made a new wall-mount for my chargers and batteries.  I took the time to make it as nice as possible even though it was made with super cheap plywood.  Everything is sanded and rounded over.  The chargers had no wall mount options so I had to make custom holders bu tracing them into 2x4's and making some poket-hole screwed clips to hold them secure.  This was a fun one.

Next I did something similar for my Ego electric lawn tools batteries and chargers, and I added a much needed power strip in this location too.

I put an electric cord reel right above my workbench.  I've always had to string extension cords over here which added a step and cluttered up the shop.  This is a nice upgrade.

And my most recent project was a mounting plate for my Kreg Jig.  This has been really handy for quick projects but I always need to get it out of the cabinet, take it out of the box, assemble it, and reverse the whole process when I'm done with it.  Not to mention the wings are loose and it's hard to move around when needed, and the box adds clutter waiting to receive the parts again when I'm done with it.  So this solves a lot of those problems and I can mount it on my wall right above my battery charger station too, which makes it super easy to grab and put back when needed, and keeps it in sight which makes it just a little less overwhelming to take on projects.  Ive been wanting to do this for a while and I like it a lot now that it's done

Probably more to come in the quest for shop efficiency in a small space :)
your doin great with the organizing jams. might work on a storage box for my laser today, one of those dreary rainy days so good time for shop work.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Thanks Pottz

Added a wall mount holder for my Kreg Jig, and a dowel board to hang my new-to-me festool track

I can identify - I'm in the middle of a workshop reorg, too.  You've got some good ideas here, which I think I may need to appropriate.  😀
Good artists borrow, great artists steal 😂 feel free!

I added a shelf to my drill cubbies to help organize more.  The bit boxes would pull everything out the way I had it before.

I have found CA glue + activator matches my current lifestyle very well, haha.
