I played with a few options for the base. Eventually a 3/4" bronze bushing got installed. Dead center. The same marks I put on when the rings got assembled into the bb ply ends jig. I checked one more thing again before I drilled. I've been doing a lot of holding things down with hot glue lately.
That's my plan from the start, I hope it's a good plan. I kept the base symmetric and balanced. The front and rear sections will be equal in length and weight. Balanced as best as I can. Without a top. Winging it. I'm thinking each end will cancel each other out, keeping it centered.
I could balance the base on a piece of 1/2" mdf that had been through the router table at a 45 degree bevel on both sides. Length wise and width wise. I was wanting a reason to use the router table, so I can say I used ever damm tool in the shop. It was pretty much line up all the center marks and let it go.
The corner pieces are off cuts from a hole saw, real good match to the rings. I glued on a slab of cedar and got it looking like I wanted. I got the bottom all cleaned up with sandpaper sheets stuck to the Unisaw cast iron top. I'm liking where this is going.
