Mosaic Baskets

This pattern is so much fun! Rebecca from Yarn & Chai comes up with the most clever patterns and I’ve loved everyone I’ve made, her baskets are no exception!

These are constructed in a different way than I’ve ever seen and once you see the pattern and accompanying videos, you’ll understand. During the final part, she has you add plastic canvas to the sides to add strength. I took it one step farther with mine and wrapped them in dryer sheets before tucking them in (oooh, smells so goooood), again, once you see the pattern, you’ll understand, I also sc in blo on round 10 of the medium basket, so it would sit flatter!

The colorway is reversed in my baskets, she has you use a neutral color as the base and a variegated one for the top stitch, but you can do whatever you want, using whatever yarn you want or have on hand (you probably should at least use one bulky weight and one worsted though, so you’ll get the same results as she does.)

My small basket is made with Bernat Maker Home Decor (the recommended yarn) in the colorway Spice Variegated and Super Saver in cream. The medium one is also using the same Bernat colorway and then I Love This Cotton in Teal Print.

Here is a link to the written pattern, she also has video tutorials on the page.
