Shadow Box For Old Tools

My wife recently received a few of her grandfather's tools that had been with another family member. I never met her grandfather, but have heard stories and seen some of his work. He did a lot of amazing woodworking with very limited resources.

I made a shadow box to display four of his hand-made tools. I love the details that he put into making the tools that he used regularly. We wonder what he would think if he knew they are now on display. My guess is that he would think I am crazy to do this with "just old tools" that are meant to be used to create other things.

At least I made it all out of scraps, including the glass, so maybe he would approve.

This is a great Tribute to her grandfather display looks really great you did well.

I love tribute projects like this. My dad always said an unused tool is like a lost soul, but I also think well used tools like those can be ‘retired to heirloom status’ and still have it be fitting for them. A really tasteful way to remember both Grandfather and his tools.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

It means a lot to my wife to read these comments about her grandfather.  Thank you kindly!
