Owl Faux Birdhouse/Secret Key Stash

I can't help myself sometimes.  I get these ideas that just have to be expressed I reckon, and I like to listen to that guidance, lol.  The happiest part is always seeing something completed, and being satisfied with what we created.

In the beginning, I was looking to make a fun front porch puzzle/key stash for my Mum for Mother's Day one year, something easy she could use.

I think it's important to note that no self respecting little bird is gonna try to nest in it, well, maybe that depends on how well your paint job turns out.  ; )

My Mum loves the birds and so a birdhouse theme it would have to be.  I found dear friends that have oodles of artsy talent to paint them for me.  I am sure if I painted it birds would nest in it, lol.

The way it works is that the Owl's head is made up two layers.  The "Face' level actually rotates to reveal a removeable pin that that will allow the further removal of the one half roof piece.  A strong neo magnet holds it in its home position. Mum leaves money in there for the paper boy and he just has a hoot finding it there every time,  haha!

To give the Owl a more menacing presence, I raked the front of the bird house at 10 degrees.  To add a 3D effect I added a fan tail at the back/bottom of the birdhouse as well as feet that stick out clasping at a rod of stars!

I was going to make kits, but thinking plans might be easier in the long run.

Happy to hear any thoughts.
