Folding Tables & Benches

Having spent 7 years living and cruising on my own sailboat, (the worlds most expensive way of going "last class"). I and many others were always looking for a stowable option for a cockpit/dock table. Now that I've swallowed the anchor (landbound) I've returned to this issue once again. The Hatch Cover style was copied from a client with older teak versions that needed repair. Functional but too light duty in my opinion. However popular the copies I made have been I was still considering a sturdier version. A design was available on the internet for the smaller unit displayed here in Padauk, only 15" tall and good for a bench/seat. Extrapolating on this idea I lengthened the legs and produced a round table version that has been met with the approval of some avid sailors. So far the table height and circumference has been a custom measurement per client, this just doesn't seem to be a one size fits all product. All the pivot points have nylon bushings so moisture/swelling will not be a problem. The best selling point is when I demonstrate the strength of these units by standing on the smaller one without it collapsing into splinters. With 5/4 hard maple cheaper here than 3/4 clear pine they are not very light but will last a good long time.
