New Shaker Workbench

I was told by one of you affable exiles I needed to post my new bench build here.  ;p  Happy to do so and would be on here more often,  but for some reason I just have a difficult time negotiating this site.   It's why I haven't been on here other than to look at projects and read some posts from time to time.  I'll need some help getting around the site.  Where does everyone hang out?  lol

I started this back in March and then let it lay dormant for a few months during the Summer.  So it's recently been completed.  I purchase the Benchcrafted vises and their plans for a Shaker style work bench.  Thought it looked like a fun build and I actually like the design and functionality of it - primarily the onboard storage.  I also like how there's no open space below the bench where crap always falls.  It weighs a ton too.  It's made from sugar maple, walnut and QS white oak for the book matched door and side panels.  I made a few adjustments, changes, additions and subtractions from their plans, but for the most part it's true to their design.  One of the additions is the tool rail on the back of the bench.  I like a place to stash tools in use so they're handy but out of the way.

Anyway, I hope you like it.  I know I really enjoy using it.  Even though my meager first bench served me well, this one is a rock.  I appreciate how it doesn't skip across the floor when sawing or planing lol

Wow! Now that is a real beauty, shop is a marvel unto itself as well!

We're not worthy!

That’s one beautiful workbench. The tool rack on the back is real handy and I really like the skirt around the bottom, eliminating the reaching under the bench for all that falls.
Not a workbench at all, a piece of fine furniture for sure.    Excellent.    Shop needs some sawdust, much to clean.

Hey thanks everyone.  I really enjoyed building this bench and love using it.

Yeah Larry, I wonder who that could have been lol  Now explain to me how to get to the latest post in your patio thread without having to scroll thru 9k posts?  I don't see a preferences setting for that.

Not telling... why shouldn't you suffer like we have for the last 12 months.

Very nice, built....  It is truly a piece of art.  I would be afraid to work on top of it.

Just select the "follow comments" label in the upper right, go to any other page/forum, and next time you revisit the Patio, you will be on the last page.
thanks splint. yeah if you wanna go to the end right away just go off and right back on. it's pretty easy here bill once you know the process. martin is still working on more improvements, but this place as is is 10x better than where we came from.

Actually that label is "Follow replies". You can also select that (it'll change to read "following comments"), then just reload/refresh the page.
it's easy bill, just stay with us and we'll get you what you need.

But where is all the sawdust ?

But where is all the sawdust ?
Someone gifted like that obviously has Shop-Elves. Kinda like a Leprechaun, who will pick up every grain of spilt salt, a shop Elf will pick up every speck of sawdust. They just go all OCD. 🤔
