I made this for my (late) Brother-In-Law and his wife to commemorate their affection for each other. The theme is based on a heart that I carved on a birch tree that stood outside of his Father-In-Law's Summer cottage. We would go up to this cottage at the end of the season to close it up. The heart I carved on the tree looked similar to what is depicted in the Maple/Ash overlay on the board. Now, my Brother-In-Laws's Father-In-Law loved that tree, but I felt that he was not as appreciative of his Son-In-Law as should have been. So I carved this, knowing it would piss him off because I wanted to remind this man of how lucky he was to have a Son-In-Law who truly loved his daughter!
Like my other folding boards, this has a routed compartment for playing cards and pegs, along with magnets to hold the metallic pegs in place and to keep the board leafs from inadvertently opening.
