Tree of life

My son practices as a Messianic Jew, and thus uses the ritualistic items (ie: for Hanukkah, Kippot, Purim, Passover, and so forth). I decided I would make him some things for Hanukkah this year…and this is the first. It is the “Tree of life afghan” (free pattern at lionbrand.com). I added loops at the top and hung it on a curtain rod for them to use as a wall hanging. Now I am making a Matzah cover and a Challah cover for them. I am thinking about making a Kippah for Adam and his son. Anyhow, this is the first finished creation. He does not know about this, so, shhhh! Don’t tell on me! LOL

(This pattern is a bit difficult and I found the instructions wordy (which I have a problem with), so I rewrote it for myself in terms less confusing for me. I like it short, sweet, and to the point. I guess that is why I often do not actually follow patterns.

The yarn is a type of nylon cord, given to me by a friend. I couldn’t even begin to tell you exactly what it is, where it came from, or if I could ever find it again on my own. It looks like an industrial spool that she gave me. It will take a long time to use it up. It is HUGE.
