Hi all, I am in my late 40’s and am getting back in to crafting. When I was younger, I had the best crochet teacher ever … my Mom. I had never tried thread crochet. Decided that for Christmas this year, I was asking for tatting supplies as my Grandmother on my Dad’s side was a tatter, but I never learned. She was a rightie and Mom and I are lefties. She tried to teach tatting to my Mom, but it didn’t work. So, back to crochet. Right around the time I decided that after Christmas 2015, I was going to learn to tat … I was laid off from my full time job of over 25 years due to employer’s bankruptcy. Next thing I knew, I was pulling out a size zero hook of my Mom’s and a ball of crochet cotton in variated purple colors. Using only a chain foundation and single crochet as I went along, I crocheted this cross with no pattern
. Even though it’s far from perfect, it’s perfect to me. I haven’t blocked it yet and may not, as I am already using the cross as a bookmark in my Bible. Was just asked to make another one for a close friend and am considering making one for our church pastor as a thank you for prayer. I really enjoyed working with the thread and now am not only looking forward to learning tatting but am also starting to look for other thread crochet to try.
