Jim on your original post you asked is what Scott is showing ,making pocket screws the go to joint in wood working. Is this more to the hobbiest woodworker or people that are being trained to become a professional wood worker? I agree he may over use it for what ever reason ,but I find a lot of these shows not explaining the difference in different joinery. Exception would be Roy Underhill because of only using hand tools.So I think what it comes down to is these shows are showing someone who wants to do woodworking is how to get a project done with in a weekends time instead of weekend after weekend on hand joinery. I hate to say I think it all comes down to the Sponsors of the show and how they think wood working should be done using there product. Maybe that’s why Roy’s Underhill can show more traditional joinery because his main sponsor is State Farm . It could be worst the CNC companies could start being the sponsors. Lol
