I have to agree with Bill here. Although I am just a second year apprentice, What I am interested in learning is the traditional method of joinery and glue, with no hardware or fasteners that might break. We cal this “Heirloom Furniture”, because it lasts for generations. There is great satisfaction for me in knowing that even when it isn’t immediately visible, the joints I make are not only sound but beautiful, too! That said, I also work on cabinetry jobs, where we do use pocket joinery and nails, screws, you name it- whatever the job requires, and won’t show. There is a distinct difference between cabinetry and fine furniture.
