Blackburn Accu Burr

Somehow, during the past few years, I seem to have lost the ability to consistently turn a hook on scrapers; tried the remedies, but still not consistent.  I ran across this little carbide burnisher on the Lee Valley site and ordered it - $40 seems a bit steep for such a tiny device, but......
Its solid carbide, about 3 in. (7.5 cm) in length, and can be purchased with handles, or shop-made.    A larger size is available.

I've been using the old reliable #80 on the straight parts of some Queen Anne legs and this thing makes sharpening a breeze.  Can't wait to use it on the #12 and cards.

Copied this from the Lee Valley site:

For 40 bucks that's worth it.

Thanks for posting.

They are worth every shekel... I was so impressed, looking back, I'm surprised I didn't do a review on these gems... purts a great angle on the card scraper debate.

I went up-market with the handles,

didn't make them perform any better, but looked more impressive than a simple iron rod.
I could have turned the wooden handles, but didn't want SWMBO to sacrifice her bras(s).

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD
