well with the opening ceremony over and the games underway i was just wondering how many saw what i thought was one of the most creative ceremonies ever. rather than the usual big stadium with the athletes marching in like soldiers we had a parade of boats. i liked how they intermixed various performances like LADY GAGA, and how about the motorized island with a flaming grand piano and john lennons imagine being performed. that mechanical horse riding down the river was way too cool. if the rest of the games go as well this promises to be one of the best olympics ever. so share your thoughts on what happens over the next two weeks.

Replacing Jesus and the disciples at the Last Supper with men in drag is despicable.

Celine Dion did a great job singing in the Eiffel tower.

It was disgusting what they did with Last Supper.  We have sunk so low.
It was interesting, I suppose. A bit on the weird side for me, but the French do love to be eccentric…

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

i didn't see the last supper part. so i went on you tube to check it out. oh my god what the hell were they thinking. thats gonna put a black eye on what would have been a steller show. thats gonna cost em some ratings for sure. but dont let that take away from what the athletes will do. i sure hope they do better for the final ? even french politicians came out and condemned it as a disgrace !

glad to see celine back, she's gone through a lot !

Any publicity is good publicity.  They got what they wanted.
well you know why they did it...................the LGBT community wanted to make their point and tell the christians of the world, we are humans too ! so they made their point loud and clear. dont like it, tough shit, we dont either !!! well as ive said that wont diminish my love of the games and cheer on our great athletes ! i sure hope people wont let that take away from what these games really mean ? GO USA !!!!!

I love the Olympics.  Politics be damned.  Religion too for that matter.  It’s just solid competition for the sake of competition.  I’m watching swimming right now while working through a couple beers.
adding religion to anything like this is a bad mistake. no matter what you do your gonna piss a lot of people off. i wonder who was in charge and ok'd that ? at the very least the president of france needs to come on and make a public apology for the worst piece of entertainment in the history or the olympics ! but being french and very arrogant, i doubt it will happen ! like i said, go USA !!!!!! starts here at 7:30.

*TONY ** Reinholds* ALWAYS REMEMBER TO HAVE FUN

I was in Nice, France once and the level of Customer Service was just sad.  Maybe because I was American, but they were just put out to have to help you.  We had a driver that we waited for at the airport for an hour and a quarter....he said he got busy.  Then I would say something and he would just snap at me.....I have zero desire to ever go back.

Mike

tony i hate to hear your sour on the games. i love it, we get to see the best in the world compete. yeah sadly politics get involved along with money but i gotta support our athletes that devote their lives to being the best that can be. if youve ever watched simone biles do what she does, you will not wanna miss it i promise !

mike i agree with ya. ive never been to france but ive been to canada which is very divided. western half love america and are fantastic people. eastern is french canadian and very arrogant and snotty. plus america kicks their ass in wine 🤣😁 GO USA !!!!!!

Tony the NCAA March madness tournament a lot of those kids are putting everything they have into those games. For most of them it's the last time they will ever be on the court in that big of a spotlight. It shows when they get knocked out and they can't hold back their emotions
I used to really love the idea of college sports, until they changed the rules to pay some of the athletes. That’s just not right. They’re at the university, almost always on a scholarship, in a spot that could have gone to a more academically qualified candidate…but they got the spot. And now they get paid? Nah, I’m out.

I’ve heard all the arguments about how much money the schools make off them, but that money goes back into supporting all manner of programs. I played club rugby when I was in school…and we had to pay to play…as soon as the schools football team moved up a division (well after I graduated), the increase in revenue was used to fund every club sport on campus, and build better facilities. That’s what should happen: the school provides the opportunity, the school gets the benefit…it’s not a one way street, the athlete’s ‘benefit’ is a paid-for, formal education they may not have gotten otherwise.

If they want to get paid, so pro…see how that works out for them.
What we choose to spend money on in the country makes me shake my head sometimes.

The colleges make a lot of money from their sports programs. The coaches get paid big money. If you have a super star player they draw more attention to your school. People are coming to see that player not the coach . The transfer portal is another story. Some sports its required to play in college before going pro.
i really dont care how an athlete gets to where they are, i just like the performance they give. sports is big money period ! thats life. it's not ever gonna change. if you want some dude that doesn't get a paid scholarship or paid big money period you need to get in a time machine and go back a 100 years ! and whats wrong with rewarding someone for dedicating their life to be the best in the world ? GO USA !!!!
