Hey there, I was just out on the local community market place for my part of the world and someone has posted for sale the Sear's Craftsman Shaper head set. Here is a photo of the beast.
Has anyone ever used this. I had one in the '70s and the recommendation was to use it on a radial arm saw. . . which I happened to also have . . .in the 70's. While the saw was a total pain to keep trued up to cut a straight line, using this shaper head on it scared the hell out of me. It sat in the box for probably 35 years or so before I finally junked it. I didn't sell it since if I didn't want to use it why would I sell it to some unsuspecting person.
Anyway, I thought i would ask. I didn't think I would ever see anyone offer one of these sets for sale. It's a steal for $40 US. . . .and the $75,000 for the medical treatment it might just necessitate. ;-)
Seriously, has anyone successfully used this and does anyone still use it.
YES i have used this on table saw BUT NEVER on RAS as mine was wonky enuff without adding extra cutters when we moved is when i got rid of it i also had extra cutter sets with mine
I think that I bought mine for $5 at a garage sale. I could never get the courage to even run a test piece through my table saw so I sold it at a garage sale for $5.

I see the opinions are about themes I had. As for using it on the RAS, the 70s were a strange time and a lot of questionable stuff was done. All I know is that this set up terrified me.
