this isn’t correct but I would be tempted to think it would be called a cockle shell or something very similar.
You may wish to ask Shipwright he does very detailed and impressive work

Thanks! I contacted Sotheby’s in NYC about selling my desk and they were interested then the pandemic hit. Shortly after I had a toilet supply line in one of my upstairs guest bathrooms burst in the middle of the night and it wound up going through the floor of that bathroom and rained into my office below…right on top of my beautiful desk! It wound up doing over $54,000 in damage and I had to have my desk refinished professionally.
What a nightmare!!
