@Thorreain, yes I am not a huge fan of the desk being pine either but any piece I make for the first time I make in pine as a prototype type thing, I have plans on doing a few of these in Oak and maple , and doing the back and sides in raised panels , this pine one does not have dovetail drawers the oak and maple ones will
