Jim, coconut oil doesn’t go rancid. My wife has a few jugs of it around for health & beauty purposes. It sits around forever and never goes bad. However, recently we opened one and found something resembling mold inside. I think one of the kids got their hands into it and left something behind. Dang kids. But the oil itself won’t go bad if kept clean. We even leave it in a bowl in open air with no problems.
Anyway, it will probably be 100% gone after being subjected to one use of lemon cutting and then rinsing in the sink. Citric acid is a pretty good degreaser.
