Brilliant piece Roger. As a boat builder I am very familiar with the “swelling” phenomenon, but as something to be avoided. :-)
I am impressed with the whole piece but what really blows me away is your perfect lettering. I’ve done some lettering in marquetry and if you are just a little off it shows. I don’t see much off in your work.
