Thinking back to the “first” was a challenge … as I can’t remember what I tried first as I longed to make a box, just a box, any box.

The “Roswell Heritage” candleholder was one of my first experiences using the tools … and maybe my first ah-ha moment was that the tools weren’t as intimidating as I had thought.
Just know the tool, take your time, be careful. (although I still refuse to use the table saw. Not going to happen!)

(and for the record, Rick and I made this creation together)

EDIT: now that I think about it … as I think about this project, using old barn boards from my Great-Grandfather’s barn … my first “ah-ha” moment was that when you cut through old, greyed wood, that the original beauty of the wood still lies inside – a hidden treasure.
