Some more details for anyone interested. First, she loves it. There 36 pieces of wood. Each piece has a tenon, a dado, a tongue or a groove and they are all quite small. The glue up was hilarious and done in stages, sides, top, front, etc.
The face is from a guy whose clockmaker Dad passed away and these were in his collection of bits, the mechanism is just a cheap quartz movement off Ebay. The finish is about 6 or 7 coats of Tung oil, rubbed with steel wool and it’s a lovely soft, almost waxy finish to touch.
I complain but to be honest, quite happy with it.
