Hi Jeff,
That is a common attribute of purpleheart. The trick is to expose it to sunlight and air and it should renew the purple color it started with. Often just the lights in my shop are enough to restore the color. You get about the color you started with. I love purpleheart… the color is so unusual and it compliments so many other woods.
