Hi , L. B. D.
Thank you.
That's a Great idea regarding Soaking The Crosses in "BUNDY" Particularly as the Town they are in is not far from Bundaberg.... "The Home Of Bundaberg Rum" They grow great sugarcane and make the famous Bundaberg Rum.
Well said you "Old Larrikin"

Thanks Peter. Making crosses is quite an enjoyable project. I bet your Navy Chaplain was pleased when you made something similar.

Hi BB1....Thank you. Much appreciated.
I am sure you would be able to achieve smooth edges with plywood.
The Plywood I used was not Top Grade Marine Ply...It was reasonably good quality. The kind of quality you could build something with, without having to worry too much about knots on the surface and bad voiding on the edges. Probably all Plywood has the potential for some edge voiding. But if the plywood is of reasonable quality, good results can be achieved.
I found that the rounded shape of the Crosses not only gave them some visual appeal, it made the sanding so much easier.
I used the GUINEVERE inflatable bulbs sanding system and found it a great help. By using different grades of Sanding Covers over the Bulbs, it was possible to shape the Crosses, then gradually go down through maybe 2 or three grits until the desired thickness was achieved.
I hope this is of some assistance to you.
Regards......Cliff.
