Petey, thanks. the turning was easy. as for the scoop I turned the bowl off the end of a block and before parting it off completely drilled for the handle on the press, between centers on the handle. I cut the slot by hand and used files to clean it up.

Ron, thanks. I might make a few of these without the scoop. Maybe a thicker wall to support a post so the lid pivots.
