Thanks, yes I’ve made a couple using gloss white enamel paint over cheap tiles and then I burned them using my laser. SplinterGroup/Bruce also did a blog on a different way to accomplish this using water a based method.

Just a plain cheap tile with gloss white enamel paint. Your method is much smarter, but this works and I’ve yet to go get the materials to do it your way.

It was her idea and I thought it was cute that she wanted it on there.

That happened because of a series of errors. First I didn’t drill the hole for my coin deep enough, so I guess I didn’t get the drill bit lined up perfectly when I went to drill deeper. I didn’t want to remake the piece so I morticed in a square to cover the damage. Then I didn’t like the way bottom and right side of the square was dark and the joints between the two woods was crisp and bright. So I put it back in the laser on 10 power and ran a few dotted lines that were barely visible in order to line the piece up so I could burn a thick dark line to cover the joints. It worked perfectly and if I didn’t tell you this long story, no one would have ever known. But pointing out my mistakes and how I get around them, might help someone in the future if they screw up as much as I do.🤪
