Ryan G, To lay out the leg holes I drew 3 lines emanating from the center 120° apart.  Then I marked the center point for each leg 3 1/2" in from the edge on each line.  Then using a bevel gauge set at 8° to align my drill the holes were drilled to a depth of 1 1/4".
