re: Cottonwood bowl
Nice bowl. You took on a real challenge in my opinion. Soft wood like CW is really difficult to turn without a lot of tear out.
A good finish that will help harden the soft wood is salad bowl finish from General or Behlen's. They apply easily with a scrap piece of lint free cloth (old T shirt) and the final finish is very durable.
