Simply beautiful Brian!   I use the term 'claret' for the velvet...............  I've recently found an amazing range of cabochons.  And metal stickers (phone stickers) on Ali Express - worth exploring for Japanese boxes  - carp, dragons and tigers which can be stuck onto a finished surface and then varnished/polyurethaned over to build up a surface.
