Great idea!  Simple things came make the best looking gifts.  Your grand daughter will love this.  

BTW, your other post where you made a bunch of little wood toys for kids gave me an idea.  A good friend of mine is going through cancer treatments and is finishing up soon.  I have a slab of walnut that I decided to make bud vases from to give it to the x-ray techs and nurses at the cancer center.   They were so wonderful to to my friend.  I will post a pic when I get them done.
