Dutchy and I have "debated" hole saws a number of times, while he swears (in Neitherland speak) by the TCT bladed ones, I could not get satisfactory results and still stick to my bi-unit and this trick... though I have a number of TCT ones... maybe I used the wrong speed, feed rate or any other combo that can affect cut quality. Unfortunately holesaws force a through hole which may not be optimum.
Before I got onto my air clamps and VAC-SYS, for larger holes/circles, I was never a great fan of router use, though I made what I consider the bees-knees of hole cutting... not for how it worked, but for the near 100% dust extraction.. The air clamps now support the work off the bench so there is no need to lift or flip the work.
If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD
