Thank you everyone for taking the time to view and comment on my project. My apologies for not responding sooner...
987Ron - Yeah, Mesquite is the main local wood in this region. It took me awhile to begin working with it (at the wifey's insistance!). Now, I can't seem to stop!
Pottz - Thank you. I also use Darrell's books for reference. Another go-to for me is Robert W. Lang's Shop Drawings for G&G Furniture. I hope to eventually get back to the Gamble House and take Jim's joinery tour...
BB1 - Yes, Danish Oil goes on first. It's amazing how the oil brings out the beautiful rusty/redish brown color of Mesquite. The sprayed Shellac adds another layer of Amber tone. Pics don't do it justice. In the morning light, it's just gorgeous...
Splinter - Thanks. Yeah, the table is pretty heavy. All that dense wood adds up. The Wifey had to help me move it into the house!
SteveR - When we started working with the Mesquite/G&G combo, we we're sure how it would look. But somehow, the rustic character of the wood combines with the G&G detail and just seems to look right. Go figure...
GeorgeW - Thanks George. Fortunalely, the Wife loves the rustic, crazy nature of Mesquite. I'm more than happy to oblige her and use it so long as I can add G&G details! Yes, lots of character with this wood. We embrace the imperfections, Couldn't have said it better...
Gary G - Thanks Gary, I appreciate the kind comment...
PeakPlane - Thank you for the compliment about my project...
duckmilk - Thank you. We like it too. The wood/design combo might not be for everyone. But it is kind of unique...
James McIntyre - Thank you James. I'm pretty happy with the drawer as well, It doesn't mount to the table in the same way as the original, but I had to make some construction compromises while making the top. But I still think it turned out pretty nice. Thanks again...
TheWoodGuy - Thanks. Gotta love G&G. I'm addicted to the style. That's all I've been making for several years now...
Dark_Lightning - Thanks. Lots of wood character with G&G detail Somehow, it works...
Petey - Thank you for the compliment and viewing my project...
