Mesquite table with G&G details

Hi Craftisians. Those familiar with the Gamble House will recognize this table as a scaled-down version of the large entry table designed by the Greene brothers. Because this project was never meant to be an exact reproduction of the original, many liberties were taken with it's construction. However, the Gamble entry table did provide the inspiration behind this design. When I first saw the original, I knew that I had to build some version of it. This is the result...

Details - Mesquite with Black Walnut pegs and splines. Loose tenon jonery. The top measures 45 x 15 inches. The table is 31 inches tall. The finish is simple - 2 brush coats of Danish Oil (natural) and 2 sprayed coats of Shellac (blond/clear). Pretty happy with the way it turned out. It will serve as a TV stand. Questions/comments are always welcome. Thanks...

Nice design and workmanship.   Like the mesquite, not much of that here in S. Georgia.    Lots of fine detail.

love it tim ! that mesquite is beautiful.  mine was inspired by that same table. also i didn't even try to copy it. i used Darrell Pearts books to help with some of the details. if you wanna really dig into the construction of the house and furnishings take the 3 hour tour with Jim Ipekjian. he's a master woodworker and has recreated a lot of the furnishings.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

So nicely done!

Curious on the finish - is the oil first for the color depth? I am always looking to pick up more knowledge on finishes.
Looks great Tim!
Must weigh a fair bit with that mesquite, built to last!
Nice job ! The G&G details give it a lot of character.
Nice job Tim, a great G&G piece. Love that top, and some of the other "non perfect" Mesquite. My line is "embrace the imperfections" generally using some wood that many would select out, gives you a piece with character. Mesquite can be the King of character.
I like it Tim.

Hi Tim. Your rendition to the G & G design is great. The joinery is the way it was in the Gamble House. I like how the drawers came out.
