James, usually when selling I end up just covering the material cost + booth and commissions from the gallery (no labor)
Clocks are usually a profit maker that gives me a bit back for labor, typically because the use minimal wood.

My faces I used are laser etched tiles so the recesses provide a well for some paint. I'm always looking at tiles for future faces.

I get away with half-laps on my version, I don't think I could deal with the M&T for something of this scale so kudos for your pursuit of true A&C!
