It's those little pieces of lumber that bite you in the ass. I've seen Mahogany at the BORG for $20 a Bd Ft, but less than half of that at the real wood stores I go to. FWIW, I went to the blue BORG for a piece of oak- 1/2" X 6", X 4' long. $22, which is exactly $22/ Bd Ft. (Didn't buy it.) That, I can buy for 1/3 the price at the same real wood store I go to. People go to those stores because they just don't know any better. I'll readily admit to getting bit, myself. I bought a piece of beautifully rayed and flaked QSWO at the Rockler store in Torrance, many years ago. I needed it for a project, so I bit the bullet and bought it. It worked out to $75/ Bd Ft. I was not happy, but I had to have it.
