JEMI, the hero of this post is not necessarily the saw as there are many brands out there and the corded ones are dirt cheap... I found it's the tabletop attachments that makes it so much more versatile for my requirements... actually it's the little one I prefer for general run about jobs and that's only cause I hate handtools (hacksaws).
I have trouble drawing a straight line with a steel rule and a sharp pencil... and people expect me to cut a straight line with a saw freehand?
If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD
