Note that I was told about 1 cubic inch per pound body weight. I went to a local crematorium and purchased the "typical" adult size temporary plastic box that the plastic bag with the ashes are placed.  If the person was larger, might need to have a larger wooden box that the plastic bag with ashes would be placed (i.e., could be more than the volume of the plastic container).

I built urns so the whole plastic box could slip inside. Here's the one I have, which I was told was pretty typical. Some do have latches that protrude more so would ideally have that factored in to the dimensions.




Eric- this is so nicely done. I'm sure the family deeply appreciated the details you have incorporated into the design for the urn.
