LBD - well, pocketholes have a place in my shop! I did use my Domino for the end oak pieces on the top. Side edging was narrow so just glued that...with plenty of clamps!

Ron - thanks! I had a register vent cover but it seemed a bit too much so I bought a cooling rack to keep anyone from reaching into the blower. Printed the clips, and it's held nicely in place. If this doesn't work out over time I can search for other alternatives. The blower opening is right by the top so wanted to avoid impeding the air flow.
